About our Products

What are the benefits of CBD oil?

CBD or Cannabidiol, has been recognized by the scientific community for its properties as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory, promoter of body and physical well-being.

Also, one of its great benefits is its neuroprotective and regenerative ability, which makes it a safe natural supplement for everybody.

It should also be noted its anticonvulsant properties, in some cases effective for epilepsy patients.
Once in the blood stream, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system whose function is to regulate body activities such as appetite, mood, pain, sleep, body temperature, memory, the immune and reproductive system.

Why are Osmosis CBD® oils better than those currently sold illegally?

Different studies on the current commercialization of CBD have agreed that the vast majority of the products that people sell illegally are contaminated with pesticides, heavy metals, herbicides, and added to this, they do NOT carry the amount of CBD present on their label . In other words, you may be paying a lot of money for poor quality and unhealthy products.

Osmosis CBD® products are better because they have:

Where does CBD come from?

CBD is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids that can be extracted from Cannabis Sativa (marijuana and hemp) CBD oil can be obtained in diferrent types, liquid, edible, and in edibles.

Unlike THC – the best-known component of cannabis-, CBD is not a psychoactive substance.

Industrial hemp contains more CBD and low THC levels. On the other hand, “marijuana” – female cannabis – has higher concentrations of THC and less CBD.

The entire world is constantly researching the powerful nutritional and therapeutic properties of CBD. Research has shown that there are a number of bodily disorders whose symptoms could be alleviated with CBD.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several uses of CBD including neurodegenerative disorders, anti-inflammatory drugs, and rare types of epilepsy.

How is CBD oil consumed?

At Osmosis CBD® we develop nutritional supplements based on vegetable oil. Sublingual administration is recommended. It can be added to drinks and food.

This is the fastest way for CBD to work in the body.
In addition to oils, CBD is used in cosmetics, veterinary products, edibles, vaporizers, and gummies.

How much CBD oil do I have to consume per day?

The maximum daily recommended use of our hemp extract (CBD) oils can be found in the product instructions. However, it is considered that you can start with 5-10 MG up to 30-60 MG daily according to the needs of each person.

  • Gotero completo: 1 ml approx
  • Garden Breeze: 8,8 mg/ml
  • Naranja Krush: 8,8 mg/ml
  • Spiced Canela: 16,7 mg/ml

Am I going to get high if I use CBD oils?

No. Over the past few years, doctors and scientists realized that CBD does not produce mental disturbances – psychoactivity – commonly associated with marijuana.
Each of our oils is guaranteed with 0% THC, therefore, they will not produce psychotropic or get you “high”.

CBD will get my children high?

The first question parents ask themselves about CBD is whether these products will get their children high. But the final answer is no. As long as the content of the products is between 0% and 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD will not get your children or teenagers high. CBD does not have any euphoria, nor psychotropic effects, commonly associated with high THC products.

At what age my child can start taking CBD supplements?

There are many reasons why people use CBD as young and older adults. However, some parents decide to give their children CBD either for its richness as a nutritional supplement, but also to treat disorders such as epilepsy, insomnia, anxiety, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, asthma, dizziness, skin conditions, among others.

Can I consume Osmosis CBD® products during the day?

Yes. You can use our products anytime, anywhere as they do not contain psychotropic or intoxicating effects.

What if I consume a lot of CBD?

If you consume pure, unadulterated CBD, you are unlikely to feel unpleasant side effects or get any illnesses.

A 2017 World Health Organization report stated that CBD “in humans has no indicative effects of any potential for abuse or dependence,”and says it is “generally well tolerated with a good safety profile.”

On the other hand, some studies to analyze the effects of consuming high daily doses of CBD (+2000mg daily) show that it could lead to some side effects such as drowsiness, decreased appetite, diarrhea, fatigue, vomiting, among others.

That’s why it is recommended to consume our supplements moderately and in accordance to the indications of usage.

Which Osmosis CBD® oil is the best for me?

Our nutritional supplements have different types of CBD concentrations and effects given by natural components. If you are one of the people who want to consume CBD in low concentrations, we recommend any of our products with 250 MG of CBD.

If you need average doses of CBD, we recommend using our oil with 500 MG.

Each of our products has the following functions:

Spiced Canela 500 MG CBD: Calm & Balance
Naranja Krush 250 MG CBD: Vitality y Energy
Garden Breeze 250 MG CBD: Harmony & Wellbeing

About CBD toxicity or adverse effects:

The World Health organization issued a report on the topic of toxicity.
“The potential toxic effects of CBD have been thoroughly reviewed with a recent literature update. In general, CBD has been found to have relatively low toxicity, although not all potential effects have been explored.” The following are some of the relevant findings to date, from in vitro and animal studies:

  • CBD affects the growth of tumor cell lines, but has no effect on most non-cancer cells. However, a pro-apoptotic effect has been observed in lymphocytes.
  • It has no effect on embryonic development (limited research).
  • The evidence for possible hormonal changes is mixed, with some evidence for possible effects and other studies suggesting no effect, depending on the method used and the particular hormone.
  • It has no effect on a wide range of physiological and biochemical parameters or significant effects on animal behavior, unless extremely high doses are administered (for example, in excess of 150 mg / kg iv as an acute dose or greater than 30 mg / kg orally daily for 90 days in monkeys).
  • The effects on the immune system are unclear; there is evidence of immune suppression at higher concentrations, but immune stimulation can occur at lower concentrations.
  • There is a possibility that CBD is associated with drug interactions through the inhibition of some cytochrome P450 enzymes, but it is not clear yet whether these effects occur at physiological concentrations.

Safety of CBD Consumption in Humans

The World Health Organization (WHO) review indicates that CBD has been found to have relatively low toxicity. None of the toxic effects that have been identified in scientific reviews from around the world seemed particularly troublesome. Adverse events reported in clinical studies investigating the therapeutic possibilities of CBD included, but were not limited to, drowsiness, decreased appetite, diarrhea, and fatigue.

Contraindications or Interactions

According to the medical, pharmaceutical, and scientific community, CBD has no troublesome side effects, does not create dependency nor intoxication. Also, its contraindications and interactions are moderate. According to the National Library of Medicine, of United States, you should be careful with the following medicines:

Using CBD in conjunction with medications that break down the liver may slow down the rate at which the body breaks them down. For this, it is recommended in some cases to reduce the dose of CBD intake so that the liver can break down the medical drugs. Some of these medications are: amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), chloroquine (Aralen), diclofenac (Voltaren), paclitaxel (Taxol), repaglinide (Prandin), and others.

  • Brivaracetam (Briviact): Brivaracetam is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the body breaks down brivaracetam. This could increase the levels of brivaracetam in the body.
  • Carbamazepine (Tegretol): The body modifies and breaks down carbamazepine. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the liver breaks down carbamazepine. This could increase the levels of carbamazepine in the body.
  • Clobazam (Onfi): Certain medications are changed and broken down by the liver. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which clobazam is broken down by the liver. This could increase the effects and side effects of clobazam.
  • Eslicarbazepine (Aptiom): Eslicarbazepine is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the liver breaks down eslicarbazepine. This could slightly increase the levels of eslicarbazepine in the body.
  • Stiripentol (Diacomit): Stiripentol is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which stiripentol is broken down by the liver. This could increase the levels of stiripentol in the body, increasing its side effects.
  • Everolimus (Zortress): Everolimus is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the body breaks down everolimus. This could increase everolimus levels in the body.
  • Lithium: Taking high doses of cannabidiol could increase lithium levels. Which can increase the risk of lithium toxicity.

Sedative medications

Some sedative medications may cause drowsiness or drowsiness if used with sedatives such as: benzodiazepines, pentobarbital (Nembutal), phenobarbital (Luminal), secobarbital (Seconal), thiopental (Pentotal), fentanyl (Duragesic, Sublimaze), morphine, propofol (Diprivan) ) and others. Therefore, it is recommended to reduce the doses of CBD or not consume it.

  • Methadone (Dolophine): Methadone is broken down by the liver. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the liver breaks down methadone. Taking cannabidiol along with methadone could increase the effects and side effects of methadone.
  • Rufinamide (Banzel): Rufinamide is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which rufinamide is broken down by the liver. This could slightly increase the levels of rufinamide in the body.
  • Sirolimus (Rapamune): Sirolimus is broken down by the body. Cannabidiol might decrease the rate at which the body breaks down sirolimus, which could increase the levels of sirolimus in the body.
  • Tacrolimus (Prograf): Tacrolimus is modified and broken down by the body. Tacrolimus might decrease the rate at which the body breaks down tacrolimus. This could slightly increase the levels of tacrolimus in the body.
  • Topiramate (Topamax): Topiramate is modified and broken down by the body. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the body breaks down topiramate. This could slightly increase the levels of topiramate in the body.
  • Valproate: Cannabidiol can cause liver damage. Taking cannabidiol with valproic acid could increase the likelihood of liver injury. Cannabidiol or valproic acid may need to be discontinued, or dosage reduced.
  • Warfarin: Cannabidiol might increase warfarin levels, which can increase the risk of bleeding. Cannabidiol or warfarin may need to be stopped, or dose reduced.
  • Zonisamide: The body modifies and breaks down zonisamide. Cannabidiol may decrease the rate at which the body breaks down zonisamide. This could slightly increase the levels of zonisamide in the body.

Questions about hemp extract (CBD)

What is the difference between hemp extract and hemp vegetable oil?

Hemp is made up of leaves, stems, flowers, and seeds. In the extraction process, producers decide to mechanically or chemically preserve some of these components.

The general extract can retain terpenes, phytocannabinoids (like CBD), flavonoids, and others. The oil that only comes from the seeds, known as vegetable hemp oil, is a great nutritional source for human consumption, however, it does not preserve all the elements of the extract.

The hemp extract that we choose for our Osmosis CBD® products preserves a high purity of cannabidiol without traces of THC. In the extraction process, chemists separate the flower and seed components to only get the cannabidiol extract, hence its correct name: hemp extract (CBD).

What is the difference between a Full Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum hemp extract?

The differences between a Full Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum hemp extract have to do with the “final finish” of the extract. What does this mean?
When chemicals extract hemp components, the first product obtained stores essential oils and cannabinoids (including up to 0.3% THC) in their content. This is known in English as “Full Spectum” and in Spanish as Full Spectrum.
Meanwhile, in a second extraction if the chemicals want to concentrate some more elements, remove the THC from the mother extract. This is called Broad Spectrum.

What is Isolated CBD?

Isolated CBD is the purest concentration of this powerful component. This means that only amounts of CBD are concentrated in the extract without any other molecules.

What type of CBD does Osmosis CBD® use?

Products in the Osmosis CBD® line are produced with 99% pure CBD isolate.

We know that the best and most efficient extracts are made up of all the components. However, current Costa Rican law only allows this type of CBD hemp extracts for commercialization.

Soon, more options of products based on 100% legal and effective hemp extracts will be available.
